On 9 October HbA1c reading 46. Decided to cut out all super processed foods and minimise sugar. 11 Dec. BMI down from obese to normal. Lost 3.5 inches off belly. Cholesterol down from 5.5 to 4.9. Triglycerides very low. HbA1c up to 47. ( stumped). Took some advice from this forum and looked at carb intake. Fitted Libre 2.
My healthy porridge, kiwi and fresh berry breakfast pushed BG up to 11.7 Eating kiwi one hour after plain porridge kept it below 8. Will try home made oat pancake with fresh fruit for lunch. Banana spiked my BG. Though ok eating one 3 hours before or after meal.
Xmas eve had a meal, choc pudding, cheese and Ferraro Rocher. BG stayed around 7. Put it down to the whiskey keeping my liver occupied. Similar thing day after Boxing Day.
Eating the odd unpeeled kiw, apple or couple of tangerines had no effect on my BG. Nor did the odd handful of roasted almonds.
Chicken curry with rice kept my BG high for many hours. Lamb curry with chick peas and lentils, sharp rise then sharp fall and low glucose warnings.
Over 6 days, BG average 5.6. In green zone 99% of time. Predicted HbA1c 33. They key to it is minimising percent of time BG above 8.
The Libre 2 free trial has been extremely useful aid in diet planning. Next blood test end of March. I had just finished a two week course of antibiotics the day before my last test. Nurse said some medications can skew readings.
