Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi there, my name is Sara and I am 32 years old. I am a type 1 diabetic mother of two beautiful children. I have been diabetic for 20 years now. My diabetes control hasn’t been always very good and I definitely have ups and downs. I joined DiabetesUK to increase my support circle, and to have a place to hear others journey with diabetes and share mine too.

Welcome!

Hi @Umm Aliyah and welcome to the forum - glad you have found us - feel free to ask any questions you may have - we're a friendly bunch here 🙂

Hi Sara, @Umm Aliyah, welcome to the Forum. My experience with this D malarkey is minute in relation to yours, after 20 years. However this Forum is a friendly place, with centuries of "lived" experience and members offer suggestions, without any sense of pressure. If nothing else you may find help:

In getting up to date with whatever changes have developed in the last 20 years, and it is highly likely someone here can explain how/what/why that change has occurred.
The opportunity to ask any question (no such thing as a stupid question here) about anything D related (and questions don't have to bw D related).
Or just vent steam and/or angst with people who "get that" and (of course) share your knowledge and experience if you wish.
So welcome.

Hi Sara and welcome from me too. Almost 6 years down the line with it myself, but learnt almost everything I know from the good people here on the forum, which enables me to manage my diabetes well. Lots of useful tips and tricks to even out some of the bumps and a camaraderie which stems from us all facing similar challenges and frustrations. Hope you enjoy being part of this wonderful community.
