A big <3 for your "OH".

My dinner will be the full works - smoked salmon for starters, a traditional main except my turkey will be replaced by a veggie option, then followed by my Mum's Christmas pud and mince pies. It will be eaten over about 2 hours with plenty of rests.
This year my veggie option is butternut squash and gruyère pithier.

BG will be random number because it is too hard to guestimate insulin for the long dinner whilst enjoying the frivolities.
Corrections are more likely than getting the insulin dose correct.

Im planning on steak, a few chips, loads of mushrooms and a peppercorn sauce
i will be round about 1pm i love steak and the works

We had smoked salmon and scrambled egg for brekkie, duck, pigs in blankets, bread sauce, carrots, parsnips, roast pots, sprouts. Home made xmas pud.
I plan to do twice as many veg then tomorrow crumble some stilton on top and bake in the oven.
Couldn't find any cracker anywhere, what a shame, never mind. I actually hate crackers so thank goodness.

I've kept to my normal routine of an early lunch. Also kept to my normal routine of messing about a bit in the kitchen.

To be a bit special today i got a roasting tin, put a slice of red cabbage in the middle, topped that with some apple and garlic and then put a couple of duck breasts on the top. Surrounded it with potatoes and carrots. Roast in oven for half an hour at around 230C. Set one duck breast and some of the vegetables aside for another day. Rest goes on plate for lunch and back in the oven to keep warm for lunch. Drain off most of fat from roasting tray and put on hob. Throw in some mushrooms and fry in residual duck fat. Add some cider, deglaze pan, reduce and then add some cream and seasoning. Take plate out of oven, pour over the sauce and eat with the remains of the cider.

It was different, tasted good and interesting, I feel nicely full and the washing up barely filled half a shelf in the dishwasher.

PS....it is years since I did sweets with a meal.
PPS...there is much to be said for only having yourself to please.

Well I haven’t eaten yet and taken insulin 3 times and it’s still off like a rocket. I’ll have Christmas dinner regardless.

We’re having Osso Buco in the evening. I’m abroad so BS goes all over the place but expect it to be around 6 when we eat.

I have had to ask the chef, just what we are having and when, Mrs Alan is a master in the kitchen, so much so, I hardly go in the kitchen. My role is to select the wine and lay the table.

I have been told we are eating at 6pm (And trust me, that means 6pm)

According to said chef, we are starting with smoked salmon and caviar with a glass of champagne.
Then, turkey, roast potatoes, sprouts, parsnips, carrots, piggy things and stuffing with lashings of gravy.
This will be followed by Christmas pudding (not for me) which I will pour brandy over and set light to.(fire extinguisher to hand H&S)
After a short break we will have stilton and a glass or two of port
Followed by coffee and brandy.

The dogs will have some salmon and turkey with their kibble and blueberries for desert.

I will be there about 540pm sounds yummy

Mine is still cooking - 45 mins to go on the Turkey and just putting pork loin in the Air Fryer - felt rough all day so have upped my insulin accordingly - hoping my BG doesn't go through the roof (It will do when I open the bottle of port!)

I'm on my way ...

I'm starving, after cooking lunch for twenty I came home, walked the dog and then had an hour Turkish lesson online. An hour of concentration has dropped my BG down to 6 so I'm definitely ready for something to eat.
