Very happy with today - my first day with a 'green' average BG since diagnosis.

6 Dec when I was diagnosed my average was 22(!) and today it was 8.2.

My evening reading is a little high at 10.1 however a) it's not been the full 4hr or that the NR seems to work on me and b) I only took 6 units instead of 10.

My reading was 11 before breakfast, 8.4 before lunch and 7.3 before tea so 10 units was clearly taking me down pretty quick even with food so decided to try a lower dose at tea based loosely on a 1:10 ratio.

Just for completeness I may do another reading in an hour or so just to see if it has come down any further or whether that 6 units wasn't quite enough.

10 units of Levemir at night also seem to bring the readings down overnight too so will keep an eye on that too.

Had a letter from the hospital as well. They want me to book in for another appt so will get that done tomorrow and see if they gave anything before Christmas...

Those are fantastic numbers @dannybgoode especially seeing as you are coming down from such a high level - it's usually a bit higher in the morning for me and I have to increase my ratio for breakfast, but that is quite normal - 1:10 is a good starting point but I tweak mine all the time, depending on time of day and what I'm eating - it is mostly trial and error to start with, but you are doing brilliantly - well done fella

Well done, this is amazing progress! And in such a short amount of time, too. You should be really proud, keep it up!
I usually start to creep up in the mornings too; unfortunately the only way I’ve found to catch it is by making sure I wake up early enough! Alternatively your healthcare professional might recommend altering the levemir dose but make sure to check with them first.
Well done again!

nice one well done

Yes. Tea last night was wholemeal toast, egg and bacon and 1:10 wasn't quite enough. Based on breakfast and lunch 1:5 is too high at the moment but of course with different types of carbs and how individual bodies respond there will be variances in his much is needed and when.

Assuming I stay on the insulin it'll be fun playing around with such things. Given my response to insulin also I don't seem to be insulin resistant so I'm still erring towards T1 but then I'm often a medical surprise so not betting on it!

May find out more at this mystery appt I've been asked to book...

Well done!

Well done!

Pretty pleased with today. First time trying to adjust dose for each meal and got it pretty close. Just this evening's meal was a bit out. Went for 1:8 and nearly went for 1:7.5 which I think would have got me there.

Still, another day at close to sensible levels. I think I'm due a follow up call with one of the DSNs tomorrow so hopefully they'll be pleased with my progress...

Really great effort. I’m sure they’ll be really pleased with your progress tomorrow when you speak to them. Let us know what they say!

I’d change your target range, 9.5 should be green too! The target range for T1 is 3.9-10.0 (70% of the time if on CGM so definitely not expecting 100% green with fingerpricks)

I might however the DSN has set me this target so going to stick with it for now 🙂

Great stuff @dannybgoode

Hopefully you’ve had a positive and encouraging call with your DSN. How did it go?

You have definitely got to grips with things quickly @dannybgoode
Well done and I look forward to hearing how your call with the DSn goes.

Thank you.

Overall it's been a good week. A handful of readings just outside the ideal but overall my daily average has been spot on.

The DSNs have been great. At the moment they are just follow up calls to make sure I'm ok, I'm coping with everything and my BG is getting down to where it should be.

They are happy enough I'm tweaking individual doses but said they don't expect me to at this stage however if I'm comfortable doing it then to crack on.

I've got another follow up call Christmas eve and they've also booked me in for a telephone appointment with one of the dieticians on Monday to get that side started.

I may just get the antibody results Tuesday too.

Overall they've been utterly brilliant so far - couldn't ask for more support.

Glad you’re doing so well! Fingers crossed things continue well for you whatever the results of the antibody tests.
