Type 2
Hi all
I was diagnosed in September this year with type 2 ,I have been border now for about12 years,my reading was 54 up from 48,
I was told to take 1 metaformin a day and because my colestral was high 1 statin per day ,
After about 4weeks another bloodtest
And my reading was back to 48 ,also my colestral was coming down ,but my kidney function was 58 down from my first reading of 61.so a bit worrying that.
All my family were type 2 it came with age .
The kidney function reading is worrying me alot if I'm honest.
Sorry about the long post

Welcome to the forum. You have done well in a month to bring your HbA1C level down as the test covers the previous 3 months so it would still have 2 months when you had not been diagnosed and therefore made changes.
Remembering to stay well hydrated will help with kidney function but not actually a big difference between 58 and 61, given the result is an estimated value based on the creatine level which could have been affected by being on new mediation. Probably need to give it time to settle but better to discuss with your GP to see if anything needs to be done.

Welcome to the forum @mick8551

Good to hear yiur HbA1c has gine back down again.

Hooe you get some reassurance over your kidney results at your next appointment. Do you know when your next follow-up will be?

I had a bloodtest over a week ago ,just for kidney function phoned yesterday for the results and they said the Dr needs to look at them so can I phone back in a few days the Dr should have looked at them by then .not much use really,

HI @mick8551 and welcome to the forum - all these tests etc. can be unsettling but try not to worry - glad you''ve found us

Thanks try not to
I went for my first eye test today at the hospital and the Dr who was doing it told me all about the forum .it definitely is the place to be in so much information
Great to hear the word is getting out there (hope your eyes aren't still stinging!)

Hello @mick8551 and welcome to the forum. I found it really useful when newly diagnosed. So much information and support from people living with diabetes. Still finding it helpful as I learn more about how individual everyone's experiences are. I had a fair bit of testing at the beginning. Liver and kidney function, thyroid, eyes and feet along with cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose levels. 9 months in after quarterly checks my next review is February 25. If everything is continuing to improve by then I will be going onto annual monitoring.

Hope that the results of your recent kidney function test are OK. If you want to ask any questions or vent your frustration (diabetes can be very contrary and frustrating) this forum is definitely the place. Wishing you well on your journey managing your diabetes.

Sorry for the long delay in posting but the drs belive it or not got back to me with my results on the 23rd Dec,
My kidney function as gone back up to within the normal range ,so relieved,
I will be asking a few questions you have all probably heard before,
I'd like wish everyone a happy new year and thanks for the support
