925 bg 9.3 talk about staff paniking i like nannas but they have never affected me like that

Hi Gail, glad to see the BG came back down, just needed to give your body a bit longer to process the nana :D

did you wash your hands before each test?

How did you feel?
I ask because if you did not feel “rubbish”, having an unusual reading maybe a dodgy reading, especially if nannas do not normally have this affect.

Bananas are high carb and will push your levels up quite quickly (hence why tennis players eat them between sets) and since you don't have fast acting insulin to cover them, then yes they will cause your levels to shoot up. I generally only have half of one at a time and only when my levels are low or I inject for it, but they are a rare treat for me because of the carbs.
I wonder if you haven't seen this rise from bananas before because you didn't have your own test kit to check?

If it was a large banana it could well have been 30g carbs and if your blood glucose was already quite high then it could have gone up to 23 after only an hour but that does seem a bit extreme and I would be a bit suspicious of that reading especially if it came down to 9 not too long after.
If you are going to have something high carb like a banana then checking your level is not too high first or only having half or making sure it is just a small banana which would likely be only half the carbs.

Or rather than suddenly only eating half a banana based on one fingerprick reading just have the same size one again but be extra careful with washing your hands.

No need to panic and change diet over what could have been a contaminated finger

Put it behind you, it was probably a dodgy strip, they may have put their sticky fingers in the wrong place.
