Nuts cals/carbs in them

just wondered which have the lowest carbs/cals count. just went into Lidl's today and there were so many that i got confused i just have a craving for some nuts maybe brazil nuts but at 1g carbs / 205cals for 30 gms its not going to be a lot is it
 
Pecans, macadamia and brazils are low in carbs but don’t eat too many of the latter. I always look online if I’m unsure rather than in the shop, so then I know what I’m looking for.

If you look in your carbs and cals then Brazils 30g looks about 9 nuts is 1g carbs but 205 cals, almonds 2g carbs 185 cals, cashew nuts 6g carbs 183 cals, Macadamia 1g carbs 224 cals, peanuts 2g carbs 181 cals, pecans 2g carbs 207 cals.
So really not a huge difference but what is best is whether you are counting carbs or cals, if both try mixed nuts.
 
Nuts are all quite high in calories I don’t think you’ll find one that’s low in calories. They’re all fairly low in carbs though, especially in the small portions you’d be eating if you want low calorie.

trouble is im a greedy cow and will have to limit self to very small snack pack otherwise i will pig out

I adore nuts and could quite happily eat an entire large packet. This is how I manage it. I prefer walnuts so I place a handful on the scales and have about 25-30gms daily. That is quite a few walnuts, put these in a small container and that's me sorted for the day.

I have also learnt how to weigh peanut butter without a mess . Thank you 'you tube'.

It all keeps me on the straight and narrow.
 
I've read/seen several times that pecans, almonds, peanuts and walnuts are the best nuts to eat for a diabetic. Luckily I like most nuts. Some are higher in fats, some are higher in cals, some are higher in carbs. Obviously don't eat too many of them at once, a very small handful, etc. :thankyou:
 
I’m not an expert but I do try to be careful, I always thought Almonds & Walnuts were a good choice, we actually buy those plus the cashews from Lidl, Mrs G roasts them gently in the air fryer just to crunch them up.
I take a small portion (Seasoned with black pepper) every day out with me incase I want to snack when I’m out and about (far better than buying crisps & chocolate that I used to when I’m out and about) that’s around 50g so probably more than a handful

Whoops i have sinned forgive mee went to lidels and combined my two loves chocolate and hazelnuts they had a bar of white choccy with nuts Went home and thought i will have 3 squares a day the whole bar later i decide its not such good idea to have it in house Forgive it was yummy
 
went shopping in Lidals today they have a good range of bagged nuts got a 200gm bag of mixed nuts(cashew nuts, hazelnut's, walnuts and almonds} 200gm pack for £1.79 Yummy

Hi Gail, I have tried these nut mixes too. Very happy with them. I enjoy them as a light snack but trying not to graze all the time between meals. I eat enough at mealtimes and snacking on biscuits, cakes and pastries as well as dried fruit and nuts became a bad habit prior to diagnosis.
 
The best nuts by a long distance for your health are Walnuts, proven, just can't remember article.

Next is almonds which helps with BG control.

Yes moderation is key, but I don't bother counting calories or count exact numbers, but as a snack they are spot on.

I’m a nut fan TBF pistachios are my favorite but typically one of the highest in calories. Pecans ……not even heard of them must check them out . I need an alternative to pistachios but at the same time better for you than the dreaded biscuit tin. Biscuits, chocolate bars , crisps completely banned now.
 
I love walnuts and pecans but they make my mouth itch.

Pecand are great and are a bit more expensive, nuts and way better than biscuits.

Pistachios I like them with sucking the shell forts, but that is full of salt and so not good??
