A couple of weetabix with almond milk sends my BG to about 14. I'm type 2 and I don't consider this to be compatible with my BG management. Likewise, a relatively small portion of porridge sends my BG soaring. Does this mean that I should just swerve cereals or can someone suggest one that might not react so badly.

I have Weetabix for breakfast most days, but only one. Most of my breakfast is a mix of berries and Greek yogurt and I break the Weetabix over it like an oxo cube just to ensure there's some 'bite' to what would otherwise feel like a dessert. Other times I'll have overnight oats, but I'll measure out a 15g portion, which is around 10g carb. Try reducing your portion size and see what happens?

As it happens I started out having 2 Weetabix with unsweetened almond milk after my diagnosis but switched to berries and Greek yogurt after reading people's comments on the Forum.

If I have cereal, I have a small sprinkle of nutty granola on my creamy Greek style natural yoghurt, mixed seeds and berries and cinnamon. It is probably less than 10g of granola but gives my breakfast a bit of extra texture and crunch, so similar to @MartinA but I'm not personally a fan of Weetabix and my nutty granola may be slightly lower carb, plus I also have less of it than a whole Weetabix.

Yes. You should avoid these foods. 14 is too high.

Greek yoghurt, chia seeds, berries, nuts and maybe something l like vanilla essence or honey (Small amount, just if you fancy some sweetness.) or fresh lemon juice and zest.

I have this some mornings but add oats, as they don't cause me a problem at all. If oats did cause me a problem, I would stop having them.

Try one wheetabix same as @Martin.A then see what results you get.

Fav way of eating wheetabix was smothered in butter when we were kids, what a combination.

@Bayboy - I don't eat grains these days, as they have always been problematic even before diagnosis - eating a 'healthy' breakfast was a sure way to ruin my day.
These days I have protein and fat at breakfast time, if I eat anything at all. I might add in some salad stuff on a warm summer morning, but restrict carbs to no more than 10gm as I found I was less able to cope with them am than pm.
These days I am more likely to eat steak and mushrooms or a chop and stirfry than anything else, or if in a hurry to go out scrambled eggs and cheese.
