Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, I've recently been diagnosed type 2. I was at work, NHS, and mentioned to a colleague that I was incredibly thirsty. She took my blood sugar and found it to be 26.5.
GP visit followed by a day in hospital and here I am

Welcome @Izzy1 🙂 No wonder you were thirsty! Have you been put on any medication for the diabetes?

Welcome to the forum @Izzy1

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

Hope you can gently bring those high levels down. Don’t panic if this takes a little while to happen, it is easier on the fine blood vessels in the eyes, and on nerve endings to reduce your BG averages over a number of weeks or months.

Does anyone in your close family live with diabetes of any kind?

Yes the dreaded MetFartin I couldn't tolerate 2 in the morning and two at night so now just take one each time. I was also given Gliclaside which I don't take as it was too effective, it made my sugars drop too much and I was having to eat more to get them up. Just seemed counter-productive.

My sister was diabetic, type 2, no longer with us. My husband is type 1.
