im strugling with my bloods at present can anybody recomend best foods for breakfast i.e cereals ect and best diet plan out there thank you colin barr

Welcome to the forum
The simple answer is generally cereals are not a good choice, full fat Greek yoghurt and berries with maybe a small portion of a low sugar granola or something like All Bran or eggs in any form, some can tolerate a slice of toast.
Have a look at this link for some menu ideas for a low carb approach. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
There are other menu plans on the DUK main site.
How much you will need to do will depend on what your HbA1C is and id you are on any medication so if you would like to share that info then it will help people give appropriate suggestions.

There are barely any breakfast cereals considered to be a good choice for us. I can manage one Weetabix, which is made from whole grains, with a mix of berries and some Greek yogurt. Some can manage oats or porridge. Eggs - scrambled, poached, boiled or as an omelette - are another low-carb option.

Have a look at the diet plan mentioned by @Leadinglights as this should give you some guidance on what are good meal choices.

Sorry to hear about your eye problems. Unfortunately retinopathy is a risk factor for us (amongst others), which is why it's important to manage our blood sugar to minimize that risk, largely through our diet choices.

If you’re on Gliclazide and you’ve already cut out some carbs, then you could try reducing them slowly a little more, then if that doesn’t work, it might be you need a higher dose of Gliclazide.

If you need carbs at breakfast because of your medication, All Bran is lower in carbs. Weight it to make sure you’re having a portion as it’s easy to shake out too much. If you can manage without carbs or with only a few carbs, then try full fat plain Greek yoghurt with a few berries and/or a sprinkle of granola or seeds.

Are you testing 2hrs after your meals? If you are and your result is too high, then look to adjust the meal.
