A bit of an out there question. When we Type 1 Diabetics have a review at GP's and have a blood test, does anyone know if they check your Sodium / Potassium levls in this test or do you need a seperate test for this with these levels being highlighted to be checked ?.

Thanks as always for any help

The test that includes sodium and potassium is called U&Es, I'm not sure if it is always done alongside HbA1c but if it is then there would be at least 2 vials of blood taken as it needs a different tube than the HbA1c. If you want it done then I would suggest asking whoever orders the blood tests for you to make sure.

Sure they do as they test urine to see how kidneys are performing.

Mine gets checked and included in my results - I guess it would depend on which checks are ordered, but I believe it should be included in a standard annual review as part of your kidney checks.

This is U&E report from my last review, so im
Assuming if U&E is requested this would be standard
