Hi, I am a new pre diabetic tested 44. Although I was already following the 800 diet for weight loss, it seems some of my choices within my calories were perhaps not the best, banana pineapple etc. I will be sticking to the low calorie diet but making some better fruit choices.

Yes, bananas and pineapple as well as mangoes and grapes are 'danger' foods for Type 2s. Berries are better options and watermelon.

Yes to be honest it was the last thing I expected, as I have been eating 600 - 800 calories a day since January I’ve lost 10% of my body weight and am presently steadily reducing my hypertension medication ( under my drs supervision). So a pre diabetes diagnosis was a real shock. The silly thing is I hadnt eaten banana for years but my sister in law had been to stay and she has banana every day with her breakfast, so I started too, just 30 gm but it seems to have been enough to spike my blood sugar.

The thing with Type 2 is it is not only or even calories but carbohydrates that is important.
I just take account of carbs and didn't worry about the calories, reduced HbA1C from 50mmol/ml to 42 in 3 months and to 36 after about year.
