Hi has anyone used Noom to help them lose weight, I was looking at it yesterday and although it seemed interesting, at £88 for 4 months, which I know is similar to some other slimming companies, I just wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with it good or bad. I could sign up for their £9 two week trial, but i Am sure I will forget to cancel even if I put a note in my diary

I have just under 2st to lose just started using a free NHS app to record food and exercise this week, currently calorie counting and after a couple of weeks of getting used to the lower calorie intake going to start reducing my carbs.

The ads pop up frequently but I have never seen anybody mention it here.

I’ve been using it for about 6 weeks. I’ve found it quite good and have lost 10 lb so far. It’s helpful to get into the habit of tracking what you eat and your weight. It links to your Fitbit or similar to track your daily # of steps. It has useful advice in it and is not too demanding to use. They do remind you when your 2 weeks is up! Actually, they give you the option to pay a reduced sum in advance (or at least the US version did). You set how much reading you do as a minimum. They send you friendly reminders if you miss a day or two and were responsive to my question. It’s quite easy to enter what you eat and it has a wide ranging database of foods with assigned calorific values - plenty of grocery store items (but don’t know what their UK database for packaged up items is like). It is possible to enter info from the food labels of items not in the database and store for future reference. I’m glad I signed up.

Remember carb value from American foods include fiber so you would have to deduct the amount of fiber to get the carbs that would be equivalent to the UK carb value which has already had the Fibre deducted.
The give away is the spelling of FIBRE (UK), FIBER (US)

Interesting. I didn’t know that.

yes Americans talk about net carbs. I won’t pay because I’m tight so that someone else can make money from me. I personally think it’s a racket. I think a low carb diet is best just buy your own food and prepare.

Thank you all for your replies, I decided to stick with the free NHS app as I can record my calories and exercise, and to start with I don’t mind keeping a note of my carbs in a spreadsheet, I have loads of cookbooks so will make use of them, just either cutting down or removing the high carb items like pastsa etc. I am going to start training next week for a 1/2 marathon so hopefully once I get back to regular exercise and drink more water I will see some progress.

myfitnesspal is free and although there are annoying ads I stick with it on the free version 🙂

Hi I am just finding my way around the site and the forum as I am new to this. Looking to do low carb to try and lose some weight while also lowering my blood sugars. I've found the low car meal planner for 7 days but do you have to go in and find every recipe individually or is there one with the recipes attached to the plan. thanks
