Did the doctor explain the reason for the new medication, it is a medication (Dapagliflozin) which works on your kidneys. It increases the amount of sugar removed from your body when you pee. It is important to drink plenty of fluid otherwise you can become dehydrated and of course it can make loo visits more frequent.
It doesn't necessarily lead to weight loss but in some people it can but it is not a medication that would normally lead to weight gain as some diabetic meds might.
I assume you have been prescribed the medication as dietary measures haven't been sufficient to bring down your HbA1C. Is there anything more you can do to tighten up on that front.
Do you mean from your question that you don't want or need to lose weight?

It may be a bit more tweeking of your diet might help if you still want the lose weight and will help with blood glucose level as well. You may find some ideas in this link. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
There is also some explanation of managing diabetes which may help you understand it a bit more.

It doesn't have to be low carbs, I went low fat, and low calorie.
I lost 5 stone.
It's whatever suits you.
