Relationship to Diabetes
At risk of diabetes
Thanks for adding me to the forum I’ve just a letter from my doctors about pre diabetes I know changing diet is needed what about exercises

Welcome @Martin 1959 🙂 Exercise is good because it can help improve your insulin sensitivity. It can also help with weight loss if you need to lose weight. Any exercise can help so don’t think you necessarily have to join a gym. Even walking is beneficial.

I’m walking 30 minutes a day two 15 minute walks I’m out and about for work wanted advice on best thing to eat as a lunch

It depends on your individual needs @Martin 1959 and what you ate before diagnosis, but generally people with pre-diabetes and Type 2 need to watch the amount of carbs they eat (all carbs, not just sugar). So, you could have cold meat/fish/eggs plus a salad and a small amount of carbs, or soup or omelette, etc.

This is a good link for ideas and information about food choices, some do's and don'ts. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
As you are only in the prediabetes range then some modest changes should be sufficient so bear that in mind.

Welcome to the forum @Martin 1959

Sorry to hear that you’ve been told you are at risk of diabetes. ‘What can I eat’ is such a common question for newcomers - it’s a very individual question, and a variety of different strategies can work for different people. At it’s most basic, while there are obvious things like cakes, biscuits, sweets and sugary drinks that you will want to cut out straight away, you might be surprised how much *all* carbohydrate affects your BG levels, including rice, pasta, potatoes, bread, pastry, grains, cereals and many fruits.

That doesn’t mean you need to avoid those entirely, but adjusting portion sizes and looking for the sources of carbs that suit you best (and perhaps some lower carb swaps) is a popular approach.

Some members focus on weight loss with a classic calorie controlled approach, which often ends up being a lower carb menu by default.

There are a number of meal plans here that you might find give you a few ideas?
