To be honest, I'm not overly fussed. I prefer the Fever Tree tonic (I find the Slimline stuff disgusting), and the fructose content is not in any way at dangerous levels, especially as I tend to only have 1 (And then switch to scotch) and split it between two drinks (Something like 6g of carbs). I tend to find fruit doesn't cause my blood sugar to go up at all, and I quite often eat Apples, Oranges and berries.
Fair enough that you prefer it and I agree that it tastes nice but as a brand I don't think it is good to recommend it for people looking to control their diabetes via diet when there are lower carb alternatives.

It is worth asking for a Slimline rather than a Fever Tree as personally I don't think the Fever Tree is the best option for diabetics and if people specifically request a Fever Tree then the brand will just grow and there will be even less choice of alternatives. I think the marketing of Fever Tree as a "healthier option" because it uses "fruit sugars" is very misleading and I wouldn't use the brand for that reason.

But 9 times out of 10 if you ask for "Slimline" you get given Fever Tree Light anyway! Round here, very few pubs/bars stock both.

Hello , I've only been diagnosed since June, so trying to come to terms with my diagnosis and what to do and not too, eat, drink ect.. But good news as that I've managed to bring my levels down from 115 to 65. Any advice for Christmas as I do like A G&T but not sure if sugar free tonic is still ok
Hello
I'm new too 🙂

I'm finding everything hard, I think I'm in denial!

I specifically ask not to have Fever Tree these days and if that is all they have, I choose a different drink, usually a rum and diet coke although to be honest I very rarely get to drink out because I am usually driving.
I buy low calorie tonic from Lidl for home G&Ts. It just isn't worth another injection for me to have Fever Tree.

Hi Nosila, Sweetie I've had my issues too, just take each day as it comes you'll get there, don't be so hard on yourself. I think at first we're all in denial and scared at the same time. Just remember you can do it

Welcome to the forum @Happychick and @Nosila

Well done on the reduced HbA1c @Happychick - amazing progress so far!

Enjoy your diet mixer G&T, whichever you choose.

Regarding Christmas Temptation, I’ll soon be re-reading the blog post linked here, which I still find very helpful.

Thank you, appreciate it. And thanks for the link.. Happy Holidays
