Hi! Ruth here!
T2 about to go onto insulin

Very sad about it and will fervently looking for ways to reverse it all

Better late than never x

Welcome to the forum
Is your introduction to insulin because dietary measures and oral meds are not working?
What insulins and regime are you about to start. I hope you have been given advise about testing, hypo treatment and carbs intake to balance your insulin regime.
What is your HbA1C that has led to the decision to start insulin.

Meds not working - was put on Ozempic but didn’t have the time to cope with side effects. ( working 7days a week)

I go into hospital for an afternoon for training.
Bloods regularly over 20, at worst 26.3 :-(

Hopefully they will start you on a basal/ bolus regime which will give you more flexibility about what carbs you can have at each meal.
Have a look at the Learning zone as there is lots of information and may give you the basis of questions you should be asking at your training session.
There are lots of knowledgeable people here who are willing to answer any questions you may have.

Insulin is the best thing I done I've changed my diet after my scare am fighting it I'd love to come off insulin too

I am hoping and praying I don't go the same way. Just diagnosed type 2 on Tuesday. Still in shock, as there has been no indication of glucose intolerance previously! But hope I don't end up on insulin.

Many T2's cam avoid Insulin, or even come off it (with heathcare provider support) by eating Low Carb. Dr David Unwin GP has around a 50% success rate at his Southport surgery, I believe that the figures are similar at the Freshwell surgery which Leadinglights posts about.

Hey Ruth. Central Scotland here too 🙂

Have they advised what they will start you with?

My experience was they started me on once a day (long acting/basal insulin) and monitored for a bit and I was told how to adjust it myself. It worked to some extent but we decided I needed mealtime insulins too which I insisted on a basal bolus (long and short acting) set of insulins vs mixed insulin for flexibility.
Initially I was on a fixed dose of mealtime insulin but now I carb count so I fit the insulin to what I am having vs the other way about (although that took some convincing lol).

Honestly, insulin was the best thing that has happened on my D journey and I finally have got it to where it just works. I had similar numbers to you and cant believe the difference in how I feel now.

Welcome to the forum @RuthG24

How long ago were you diagnosed? It sounds like you’ve been through a frustrating process of medication- increases, with nor much BG improvement by the sounds of things :(

How long did that process take?

With BGs in the 20s you must be feeling pretty grim :(

Hopefully with the help of insulin you’ll be able to bring those levels back more into range.

Let us know how your training session goes. We have a few T2s on insulin here who can share their experiences.
