Hi all was diagnosed 6 weeks ago with Hba1c of 108 so bit high lol, though had no symptoms got picked up on old man health check. Been on Metformin though today is first day of Ozempic so see what happens

Hi @Wab666 and welcome to the forum. Yep, a HbA1c of 108 is a bit high and requires attention to be paid. If you leave it then by the time you are an old man, the chances are you will have side effects you could well do without. All is not lost however, many on the forum have been up there but are now back to near normal.

Read around the forum and you will get some ideas of what strategies have been used to get blood glucose under control. Most always it is a mix of weight loss, what you eat, exercise and medication. How you balance those things depends on you as an individual.

Hopefully the medication will start to help get your blood glucose down, but this will also require some dietary changes which I hope has been mentioned to you as that will be as powerful as the meds.
Many find a low carbohydrate approach successful though some go for a low calorie or 'shakes' based regime to give them a kick start.
This link may help you if you opt for low carb. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
Low carb is generally suggested as being less than 130g total carb per day. If your carb intake has been very high, then reducing gradually is better for your eyes and nerves which can give issues if you reduce quickly.
Keeping a food diary of everything you eat and drink with an estimate of the total carbs will give you an idea of your starting point for making some reduction.

Welcome to the forum @Wab666

Let us know how things go with the Ozempic - hopefully it will gradually bring your levels towards the normal range. Although you’ve not had what you felt to be any symptoms, I wonder if you might begin to feel relief from tiredness or lethargy or fuzzy-headed ess which had sort of snuck up on you?

Let us know how the ozempic goes, hopefully you won’t see too much nausea or stomach upset.

Hi seems to be going ok on the Ozempic bit of a sore stomach on first day other than that all good

Congratulations! That is a great improvement and will hopefully motivate you to keep working on bringing it down.
Well done!
