Type 1
Hi All
Newbie type 1 here, diagnosed about 8 weeks ago after visiting the Doc's after a 3 stone weight loss in 6 weeks, then being told to go straight to hospital due to blood glucose level not being able to be read on the doc's machine and ketones in urine.
Spent 2 and half days in hospital to be told I was probably type 1, no history in the family at all.

Thanks for the add

Lee

Hi highlander317, welcome to the forum.

Really glad that you've found us as it sounds as though you've been through a lot recently. Have you been put on medication or given some idea of what the next steps are?

Being type 1 can be a bit of a learning curve but we've got lots of info and support on the site so do feel free to share more when you can.

We've got some good general info on our main site so do have a look and let us know if you have any questions. https://www.diabetes.org.uk/diabetes-the-basics/types-of-diabetes/type-1

Yes, been given 2 types of insulin, semglee once a day and novorapid before meals.
It is a lot to take in, still trying to adjust things and find out what spikes my BG levels.
Got the dietician appointment this week, so counting calories is about to begin, with me being able to change doses per meal.
