Welcome to the forum
Many people find it a shock to get a diagnosis but finding out as much as you can about the condition and how people manage to get their blood glucose levels down will help you move forward with your new lifestyle, changes to your diet being most important. People often find that reducing carbohydrates and increasing protein and healthy fats means they do not need to have snacks as their meals are filling and sustaining.
Low carb snacks are things like nuts, cheese, boiled eggs, avocado, olives or protein nut bars like Nature Valley, KIND or shop own which are less than 10g carb per bar.
You have to ask yourself why you are having snacks, is it because you are hungry in which case increasing healthy fats will help or boredom, in which case then going for a walk or finding something else to do. Sometimes people misinterpret hunger for being thirsty so maybe have something to drink instead.
If you would like to say how you came to be diagnosed and what your HbA1C is and are you taking any medication then people can tailor any suggestions to your situation.
If you would like to post what sort of meals you have people may be able to spot any issues.

It is All carbohydrates that you need to be watchful of reducing then in your diet, many people find a low carb approach successful and that is suggested as being less than130g TOTAL carbs per day.
Basing meals on meat, eggs, full fat dairy, nuts, veg, salads, fruits like berries with small portions of any high carb foods like potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, cereals, and tropical fruits and really cutting out cakes, biscuits, pastry and sugary drinks including fruit juice.
This link may give you some ideas for modifying your meals. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/

Thank you so much for the link I am getting so much info here I mentioned snacks due to not having regular breaks and driving so to pop a few bits in car for emergency. Am now eating a slice of whole meal toast for breakfast and everything else is with either salad berries or veg so feeling positive. It's a scary diagnoses but you have made me feel more comfortable. And given such good advice so thank you

Do you have anything else with your toast, you might want to include some protein as well, so maybe egg or cheese or peanut butter.
You seem to have got your head around the changes you need to make. The protein bars are good for something to keep in the car.

Sounds like you are making a good start to tweaking your menu. Glad the suggestions on the forum are helping you feel more comfortable. Getting a diagnosis with diabetes can be a scary and overwhelming time - so it can be good to have others alongside you who are facing the same challenges every day.

Let us know how things go for you. Have you got a follow-up appointment booked in the future?
