Hello. I have a suffered with diabetic neuropathy for around 8 years now and have taken gabapentin (600mg) 3 times a day. It has always been brilliant for me. However a few weeks ago I was put on statins as a mandatory procedure. After a couple of weeks my nerves started flaring up and last Monday a doctor advised me to stop taking them and see how I get on. I know these things can take time to calm down but I’m still in pain now. Has anyone ever had a similar experience whilst on statins because I’m worried it’s just a coincidence that these are causing it or whether it’s something else. Thank you.

Sorry to hear your neuropathy is giving you a hard time at the moment, and that your pain relief meds are struggling to keep on top of things :(

Have you been monitoring your BG levels during this period. From reading the experiences of others over the years, it seems that erratic and elevated BGs can exacerbate neuropathic pain.

Hope you manage to get some relief - pain can be an exhausting business.

Have you ever tried a TENS machine to see if that helps?

Hello. Thank you for getting back to me. Yes I monitor my BG levels very well and test very regularly. I have never tried a TENS machine but I will certainly give it a go and see if it can help me. I very much appreciate your help thank you so much.
