I have had diabetes for 10 years but not a pill yet. I need some difference in my diet because after 10 years I am bored. I would like cake, pancakes and a few other things made with flora and canderel. Can anyone supply me with recipes?

Hi Eunice, welcome to the forum.
I can recommend Sugar Free Londoner for nice recipes.

This might give you a new take on a low carb approach.https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
A internet search for low carb or keto recipes usually comes up with some good suggestions.

Hi eunice, welcome to the forum! 🙂

I've moved your post to the recipes section just in case any foodies are lurking around. We've also got a good thread re what people eat in a day so may be worth a look through to get some ideas as well as meal plan inspiration on our main site.

You might be a lot better off using butter rather than Flora and you also need to consider flour substitutes as well as sugar substitutes but making low carbohydrate cakes and puddings is definitely possible.

I sometimes just make a microwave chocolate (and peanut butter) mug cake when I really feel like I need a sweet treat. You can also use any leftover sponge from it to make a trifle with berries and sugar free jelly .... and a bit of dry sherry if you like. Topped off with some proper whipped cream and perhaps some grated dark chocolate.

I use butter and the sugar subs I use are various types of erythritol, monk fruit drops and allulose and I make very low carb cakes, pancakes, bread etc etc In fact I have everything I had pre-diagnosis just made with different ingredients.
Today I had chocolate fudge brownies and mint choc chip ice cream and my blood sugars didn't budge higher than 6.5 from the pre-meal 5.5
I keep my carbs to fewer than 20g per day and I have pizza, chips, pasta, rice, cake, crisps, ice cream and even cod in batter and home made KFC style chicken. I just use different ingredients to get the end result that tastes and feels and smells the same as the carby original versions.
My recipe for mint choc chip ice cream is on my Facebook page today - the link is in my signature under this post.
The brownies shown are from a sugar free londoner avocado brownie recipe that I tweaked slightly.

You do not need to have a limited diet at all and still stay within your limits to keep from sugar spiking.

Scones with keto strawberry jam and double cream - scones made with a mix of oat fibre, coconut and almond flour and powdered erythritol.

KFC style keto crispy fried chicken with a salad. Batter made with pea protein which is zero carb.
