Oh really Leadinglights ?? , I didn’t even know Woolworths was in the Uk , I know New Zealand has them but didn’t know about anywhere else , we also have coles , aldis , drake , foodshare or I think it’s called food works ( I think we may only have a couple of them) . What do you guys have in the uk?

The biggies are Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons, ASDA, Waitrose, Iceland, ALDI and LIDL all compete against each other on price, but there are others who have limited food items B &M and a few others who have short date stuff at lower price but they often have a label stuck over the ingredients which have been translated into English from some other language.
 
We had the American version "F W Woolworth" (founder's name) - though it got shortened to Woolworth in later years and was known fondly as Woolworths. Sadly they closed in 2008, I still miss them dreadfully and wish they could make a comeback. They didn't do much by way of food other than sweets - especially their "pick n mix", they did household/kitchen items, ladies stockings/tights, their own make-up brand as well as others, books, records, stationery, clothing, toys etc etc. It was my "go to" place from a youngster until it finally closed its doors for good :(

The UK Woolworths was originally part of the US company FW Woolworths, which I believe has also gone and only exists as a shoe company (Foot locker) these days. The UK division was sold off and became independent.

The UK/US Woolworths was never related to the one in Australia/New Zealand - a totally different company with no links at all.
 
Seriously low carb company sell them, check out their other products, bread rolls are fab! I buy £40 odd pounds worth on subscription once every 4 weeks. Oh there are 3 different types as well. Very useful for lunch snacks.
 
Marks and Spencer do a similar one - 3g of carbs per 100g, and a cheese and onion flavour, which are 3.3g of carbs per 100g. Not tried the cheese and onion ones yet, but the sunflower ones were nice.crackers.jpg

I don't think that I can be unusual in being one of the folk who didn't really mourn the passing of Woolworths in the UK. I thought that it was sad that they closed but, at the time, I really couldn't remember the last time that I'd been in one. Asda sell many of the things that I would possibly have gone to Woolworths for in the distant past, so I would pick them up with my big grocery shop. Other stuff, my first port of call would be Wilko or Boyes.
 
I never liked ‘woollies’ and hardly ever went in.
 
I found these crackers in M&S yesterday - they're nice with peanut/almond butter!
