When do you take your blood glucose reading in the morning as many people find it will go up as soon as they actually get up as the liver releases glucose to provide energy for the body to function. Try taking it when in bed as you may then find it is were you feel it ought to be.
Fasting levels when somebody has blood taken is usually when the have been up and about doing stuff so the level will appear higher due to being active but not having food.

... and therefore not actually exact. I do not believe it is possible to get an exact 'on the spot' measurement, Glucometers can be up to 15% adrift either way, and interstitial fluid as measured by either Libre or a CGM, isn't exact either. The only thing that can be and IS true is an HbA1c test.
