Type 2
been hovering for a while, picking up tips on diet mainly, thought it was about time i joined
haven't got any questions at the moment, any queries i've had this past year or so , i found the answers all ready here, thankyou all forbeing so helpful!

Hi and welcome.

Pleased you have "delurked" and are introducing yourself, but great to hear that you had found reading through the forum so helpful prior to saying "Hello".

Would you like to tell us a bit about your diabetes? Things like.....
When you were diagnosed and how that came about?
Are you on any medication for it?
Have you treated yourself to a BG meter so that you can monitor your BG levels to help you adjust your diet?
Have you had a blood test (HbA1c) since diagnosis and are you making good progress?

Hopefully you have had retinal screening and foot checks etc.?

Look forward to hearing more about you and following your progress and hopefully celebrating your successes.

thanks for the welcome
i was diagnosed august 2020 type 2 hb1ac 103
i was having some routine bloods done as i had some other symptoms
my gp practice were really good , so i was put on gliclazide, as i was already having digestive issues , the gp thought the metformin was best avoided
i took up the lower carb diet, after reading up on it on this site and a few recipe books
nov 2020 hb1ac 53
july 2021 hb1ac 44, changed to linagliptin
i did get a blood monitor and strips on prescription while on gliclazide
but once changed to linagliptin , i self funded and bought the monitor recommended here gluconavii
keeping the carbs down below 100
i've had eyes and feet checked and onlline lessons from local diabetes care team
so i am happy with all the help/treatment from the nhs

Well I am so pleased you shared that because firstly, I can congratulate you, which is always a nice thing to be able to do and clearly there has been some serious effort involved in achieving those results but also because I am sure it will help to motivate others who are newly diagnosed and feeling overwhelmed at the task ahead.

Great to have you here @Almond_tart2021 and nice to see you ‘delurked’

Well done on your amazing progress so far, and glad some of the reading you have done around the forum has been helpful 🙂
