You’re not thick @mum2westiesGill Maths is a bit like getting lost. Once you’ve gone the wrong way, it’s hard to get back on track however easy the path is to follow in theory 🙂
Thank you 🙂

You’re not thick, most people don’t have to do sums before they eat their dinner!
Basically if your portion of rice weighs exactly the same as one of the pictures then you can just use the carb count that’s in the picture. Real life is never that easy though and it’s highly unlikely that the amount you eat will weigh exactly the same as one of the examples. So then the maths comes in, and we’re trying to help you to make it as easy as possible, you’re like me though and like to understand WHY it works!
But you can do rice now - weigh your portion, divide weight by 3, enter that into your bolus adviser as the carb amount. So you don’t need to even look at carbs and cals for that any more. I find the same works for pasta too. Don’t make things more complicated than they need to be!

So I've had my chinese takeaway of my favourite chicken fried rice
1st portion I weighed was 222g
222÷3 = 74g carbs
2nd portion which I'm just about to eat now weighed 182g÷ 3 = 60.6666......

I'm going to use my bg from before my meal then enter the carbs 74+61 = 135g of carbs.

Your method sounds correct but are you certain you’ve weighed and zeroed the scales correctly? A 404g weight plate of rice is massive. More than this picture which is 355g

Thank you for checking & here's what I did - I put the dish on the scales then zeroed the scales then spooned the rice in to the dish carefully - the first weight was 222g then my 2nd portion was 182g - it was almost a full foil tray
