Hi only a week into the new regime . We have 2 bar b qs this week end . As a newbie I'm wondering if you can help me . Im being treated as type 2 initially but possibly a Type 1.5. Metformin . Levels high
Ive found some small turkey burgers - they seem to be ok. Not the bun ? Mixed plain salad? Is there anything else I can pep it up with?

Dessert is a real problem as I would make a fruit salad normally but too new to know if thats ok -
Any suggestions are welcome or point me to a recipe.

Make the fruit salad just berries, mix of rasps, straws and blueberries and maybe blackberries. No need for sugar. Take a tub of double cream to serve.

High meat content sausages and burgers are fine too, though possibly too expensive for a bbq .
Any fruit with berry as part of its name is often tolerated better and the luscious cream or rather it’s fat content can help slow the absorption of carbohydrates.

Enjoy your bbq .

Home made lamb burgers are good just mix 1lb of minced lamb with some crushed garlic and chilli ,seasoning (I use a vegetable Oxo or half a spoonful of Marmite ) Add a splash of cold water and mix well with your hands and form into burger shape .We often have BBQs when the weather is good my husband has jacket potato and I have celeriac wrapped in tinfoil and we have vegetables such as mushrooms and peppers and courgette wrapped in foil or on skewers ,a piece of gammon or steak .Now that has made me hungry !!!

The cheese is probably Halloumi, which you can also cut into slices to put on the barby or grill.

As I don't eat meat, I love halloumi skewers on the barbie.

I also eat a lot of barbecued fish. Either whole fish, fish steaks/fillets or on skewers.
They are easy to cook, can be marinated beforehand, carb free and don't need a bread roll.

Mmmmm that is great for Bar B number 2, to vary the menu.

We went blackberrying last weekend !!

DRINKS - I have some Diet Lemonade in store 0 sugar 0 carb but does have AceSulfame .
I also have a Ginger Ale likewise 0 carbs
Any good for a bar b?

Ive just had a thought ...... Im a very low weight so would a burger from the hosts local butcher be ok ?

Thanks for the contributions and encouragement . The 2 bar b qs seem to have gone well. Use was made of the Heck range of high meat burgers and sausages. They were under under 5 carbs for a burger and sausage so a bun -with salad was possible. A few strawberries with Alpro no sugar yogurt finished it off.
