Insulin twice a day plus tabs, back and hip issues, 6.2ft, 19 stone, Director so slightly stressed, lost people in covid so kind of gave up but fighting back
Humalog mix 25, to be honest I have not been testing myself as much as I should have, hence joining and trying to get back on line, 9.2 just after breakfast today
Hi @PaulE - a warm welcome to the forum and well done for reaching out when you knew you needed some support and guidance. That’s a pretty big step in itself! We’re all here to help as and when you need it. I would recommend setting reminders on your phone or whatever device you use most, to test your blood sugars at certain times of the day. As a type 1 using pump therapy, I would always forget to change my cannula when I was supposed to. And since setting up reminders on my phone it’s really helped keep me on track with it.
I have also lost loved ones during Covid so I can completely understand the feeling of giving up. But glad to know you’re fighting back and do let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. Wishing you all the best in getting back on top of your diabetes.
Glad you have found us, and good for you for deciding to fight back!
How long have you been living with diabetes?
Hope comparing notes and strategies with members here will give you hints, tips and encouragement as you try to tackle your diabetes head on. 🙂
How have you been finding the mixed insulin? Several of our insulin-using T2s have found moving to a basal/bolus insulin regime offers them more flexibility, and makes adjusting doses easier as meal doses are separated from the background insulin needs. It does involve 4x injections a day, but with those extra jabs comes increased subtlety and adjustability.

I love testing - well, not really, but I do like the information it provides. Using mixed insulin does make control harder because you can’t increase or decrease one segment of the insulin without also increasing/decreasing the other segment, which might not need adjusting.
