Welcome @shepp 🙂 When you say your levels are “always” low, how often are you testing? Is there a possibility you’re going high after a meal then dropping too low? Can you write a day’s readings for us?

And are you saying that you’ve now been re-diagnosed as Type 2? Are you on any medication at all?

Oh and sorry I don’t take any medication as I’m trying not to rely on it and also they may drop my sugars lower than they are, and I’ve seen the doctor once since December and he said I could be in a honeymoon period but says I’m type 2 atm but could change at any time

Ok, well the two that stand out there are the 3.6 and the 2.9 - particularly the 2.9. Occasionally non-diabetics will drop as low as 3.6. Did you get hypo symptoms at 2.9? Is there a possibility your meter isn’t accurate?

Can you spot any link to food at all eg do you drop low a certain number of hours after eating? That’s what I’d look for - to see if an over-reaction to food was triggering the low sugars. You’d have to test frequently and keep records of when and what you ate. I’d try to cut out snacks for this ‘experiment’ because it will simplify things.

Sometimes people will over-react to carbs and their body will produce too much insulin and that causes low blood sugar some time after they’ve eaten. I have Type 1 and when I was diagnosed my blood sugar was approaching 30. I was shocked because I’d actually had some low sugars before diagnosis. My consultant said that those were caused by my pancreas functioning erratically and producing too much insulin too late. However, I presumably also went higher than you’re going and just didn’t know it.

Have you tested your blood sugar say one hour after eating your mash and tuna to see if you are going high?

When I got diagnosed and taken into hospital I was over 100 they said I have 2 testing kits I think there quite accurate wen I’m going low I can usually feel it happening sumtimes I get to 2.5 without noticing witch is worrying , after my food I’m usually feeling ok with between 4 and 5 sugar levels I couldn’t really eat any more meals in a day as I’m eating 4 times a day at the moment around 60g of carbs for my 2 main meals and 30g carbs in my morning and tea meals But every now and then out of the blue I’m 2.5 /2.9 I’ve been having lower readings recently and I don’t know why I would love to cut out the haribos I go to the gym and the sugar I don’t won’t to eat but I worry that i need it to get them bak up before I have a comba

It’s totally understandable that you’re worried when your blood sugar goes low @shepp especially if you’re going to do exercise. Has your doctor given you any idea why you’re going that low?

Have you tried reducing the amount of carbs you eat in case it’s the carbs causing you to overreact? You could gradually reduce the amounts you eat, and then see if eating a very low number of carbs helps you.

Maybe that would be an idea I was on a very low carb diet and I’ve added more carbs now as I was loosing weight maybe I’ll have to try dropping them back down to see if that’s why thank u for ur advise I will take it on board Craig
