Hello
I recently had a health assessment done at a private clinic as I've been ill for years. They measured lots of things including glucose sensitivity and insulin resistance. They weren't blood tests but magnetic/electronic tests to measure whether your organs were working on a cellular level. The clinician said I had high glucose levels, low insulin and insulin resistance.
This really concerned me so I researched and have done some tests.
HbA1C range 20-42 31mmol/mol
Glucose fasting 4.9 mmol/L
Medichecks doctor said the HbA1c was normal indicating I don't have diabetes.
C-peptide range 1.1-4.4 ug/L 0.89
Indicating low insulin levels.
I did an OGTT this morning with a blood glucose monitor following the instructions below.
I was 'normal' if I went by the official advice in the thread but not if I was comparing myself to a non-diabetic at 45 minutes and 2 hours and my level seemed to take a long time to go back to the original reading. Also the readings didn't seem that accurate but there seemed to be a peak and a fall. Please could you tell me if these are normal:
Fasting level 5.2
Drank the lucozade
15 mins 6.8
30 mins 7.1
45 mins 5.4 seemed strange so re-tested 7.1
1 hour 7.4
1 hour 15 5.0 again seemed strange so re-tested twice 5.8 6.7
1 hour 30 6.1, 5.8
1 hour 45 5.7
2 hours 6.4
2 hours 15 6.3
2 hours 30 5.4, 6.3, 6.2
2 hours 45 5.2, 5.3
3 hours 5.9, 6.0
3 hours 30 5.7
4 hours 15 6.2, 5.3
Thank you
