I bought this today as someone said low carb low calorie and a square is all you need for the taste and treat. Now maybe I am fussy but this was definitely not palatable to me. I am a Galaxy lover when I do get the notion and it is rare, £2 a bar so not expensive but still hubby says you bought you eat it. Now that to me will be torture. any ideas what to do with it as its not that low cal at 62cal for 10g. I have 150 snack cals a day at the moment.

Could you use it to make a low carb dessert @Nayshiftin ? Melt it and stir it into mascarpone or ricotta or cream, along with a little sweetener? Whipped cream, chocolate and rum makes an easy and yummy dessert. If you wanted a lower calorie thing then some kind of soft cheese would work, I’d think.

Oh now you are talking yummy sounds something to try this weekend. I wondered as eggs are good maybe an old fashioned chocolate mouse might be something. I guess a little stevia to sweeten. I am questioning rum, is that not full of sugar and is alcohol permitted?

I regularly have 85% dark chocolate and that is my limit for cocoa solids and I eat half a square with a spoonful of peanut butter to make it enjoyable. No way would I ever waste money on 100% as it would be far too bitter, especially if you are a milk chocolate lover.
Your husband is a hard man making you eat it!! You could break it up and use it sparingly as choc chips in a low carb cake/brownies or put it in chili con carne and make your husband eat it too.... he will never know, but I quite like @Inka's suggestion.

I would definitely go with the rum.... it is my spirit of choice. Rum, although made from sugar, doesn't contain carbs as they are all converted into alcohol so like other spirits it is a good choice for those following a low carb diet. It does however contain plenty of calories, but many of us don't count calories and a tiny bit of rum in a special dessert isn't going to hurt!

I have had to train myself to like different flavours.
I remember when I used to find a small amount of chilli make my nose run and my eyes water. Now, others find some of my cooking waaaaaay too spicy. The transition has happened over time. I didn't go from 1-chilli dishes to 3/4-chilli dishes in one go - my tastes evolved over time.

Likewise, if you like Galaxy with 55% sugar, trying 100% cocoa chocolate with 0.4% chocolate is going to be inedible.
Can you start with 70% cocoa chocolate and gradually increase the percentage?

The other tip I'd add ... dark chocolate is a great accompaniment for red wine whereas high sugar milk chocolate is not good.
That's if you have any wine left when you run out of cheese 🙄

If you like milk chocolate, try moving to a good quality one with higher cocoa solids. Green and Black do a 37% one. It’s more cocoa-y than Galaxy so you’re not tempted to eat so much. Once you’re used to that taste, you can explore higher cocoa solid percentages. Lindt do a 55% one. Personally I don’t like much above 70% so don’t feel you have to force it down. I think the higher cocoa ones are better in cooking. We all have different tastes 🙂

I’m Type 1 and only on insulin so I can’t answer about the alcohol, I’m afraid. If you make a nice recipe, do post it here (I’m drooling as I write that :D )

I tried 100% recently but won’t be doing again. Really unpleasant taste! I find 70% ok but anything higher is not to my taste. Waitrose do some flavoured ones that I quite like an occasional square of.

Aldi also do some nice 70% ones, chilli, orange and almond, mint, hazelnut, salted caramel. Not as expensive as Lindt.

I've tried that bar from M& S and while it's not my favourite, give Montezuma 100% dark chocolate a miss. It is unbelievable and not in a good way. Real low on carbs made even lower because I hardly ate any of it

It was me trying too hard to get low carb . I’m still messing all the time as he will not go to it . Thinks it’s a craze. Also U.K. diabetes changes tune on it and low carb he says . So I try n sneak it in. I’ll ignorant towards alcohol too . I rarely ever like chocolate always least favourite but yea this was bitter. I love the ideas though. Rum I will try as so little will bd needed for the taste. I may even turn alcoholic wow . I am not asking anyone to hold their breath on me drinking too much lol. No I’m going to try a baseless cheese cake chocolate n rum topping . He might even say he wants more. Marscapone cheese n chocolate rum with a few nuts my mouth feels like it might not like the weighing scales. Still I am losing well and feeling better so as long as I work in the treats it keeps me going. Tonight is tarragon chicken snd celeriac and veggies. Have to say it smells wonderful. Do not tell him it is low carb or diabetic friendly. Portion size his is three times mine but not cooking two different dinners is great. Love choc in chilli idea never tried as thought added cals but it might just make it special.

Yes , I will just cook or bake this time not going to endure the taste. I did have it but as it was meant to be the treat of the week like a special thing my hopes were saddened. I am not sure if I get Montezuma near me but I'll be more aware now. As not a lover of chocolate but my daughter is I was trying to get something so when I get the chocolate out I can pass myself with a square. I think the other sweet like things are not so much a thing in our house but she knows I can take the Galaxy but no I am not keen on 100% at all.

I've never had 100% as nowhere in my town stocks any but my favourite is Lidl's 95% stuff but then I've always been a lover of dark chocolate xx
