Were you given your test numbers for Hba1c (glycated haemoglobin) or blood glucose at the time of the blood sample being taken? That helps to refine the advice offered.

I assume you had a blood sample taken from your arm and sent to the lab by your surgery and that would be the HbA1C test which is an average of your blood glucose level over approx 3 month period.
