Going for my 3 month review hbac1 Monday. Only diagnosed three months ago on hbac1 70.

lost 15 kg and doing low carb and walking a good bit every day so going well.

regulatory get readings first thing in morning of 5.4-5.8 ( odd time earlier in process was just above 6) and often in 5s 2 hrs after meals.

I have never measured anything over 6.8 in last 8 weeks and rare i go over 6.4

im hoping to get at least mid 40s reading, what you think?

Thanks Paul

Sounds great to me you have done very well. Hope all goes well

I’d expect very low 40’s with that result Paul if not better bearing in mind an average 6.5 equates to about 38! 🙂 Important thing is you’re well on track now so well done!

I would say you have an extremely good chance of being mid 40s or below. Fantastic job on the weight loss and it looks like your hard work on the diet and exercise is paying off with your BG levels too.
Look forward to you posting a really good HbA1c result. Have you had the blood test or is the blood test Monday and review after the result comes back?

no actual blood test monday so i suppose few days to week later for results.

I am sure Dr hates me as i have been proactive and demanding the tests although he is responsive but sure your health is your wealth. I actually sent him a list of what bloods i wanted like thyroid, liver, hbac1 and cholesterol. He couldn't believe i not had a cholesterol test in last lot.

i have learnt lots here so im hoping it goes well. Its only the start but a good start is better than no start lol

Yep. Generally for T2D, those morning readings are the most telling. If you've lost enough fat to clear the fat from yr liver, they will come down. For some reason it never seems to get explained, but the biggest thing for T2D is fat around the liver => reduced liver insulin sensitivy => liver goes haywire producing glucose from fats and proteins ("gluconeogenesis", note: not from carbs). Metformin's main action is to reduce that "gluconeogenesis" action.

I am currently battling to get a cholesterol test. I have had the forms for a 6 month HbA1c check but that’s it. I phoned GP surgery to request cholesterol too as the last one was 6.8 but it’s been refused no idea why I am now waiting for a GP appointment to challenge this. I have explained that for the last 6 months I have been on LCHF diet so want to know the effects on cholesterol.

Can you not tick the box yourself for that test. When I got my last form for the HbA1C the box was not ticked and as that was the whole point of the request I just ticked it myself.

I did really well getting my BG down from 49 to 40 doing low carb...but cholesterol has gone up so it's important to have that tested.
I'm now cutting down on fats too.

Sounds like you are doing really well @D2PAUL

I would certainly be expecting a very positive improvement in your HbA1c with the results you are seeing, and your weight loss.

Let us know how it goes!

Sounds like you’ve made a great start @D2PAUL so hope you get the result your expecting

The important thing is the ratios of LDL. HDL and triglycerides, your total cholesterol may have gone up but your ratios may be better. The kind of fats you eat could make that difference, generally the fat you eat does not necessarily directly convert to cholesterol. There has been quite a bit of research on this.

Be careful what you wish for - all the emphasis on my treatment is cholesterol reduction and not a word (or presumably a thought) about my diabetes.
Cholesterol and lipids in general are essential for our well being - age at death is lower if you lower your cholesterol. Someone checked.

Great to hear the progress you’ve u have made with getting to grips with things @D2PAUL

I look forward to hearing what your results are. Recently, if you have online access to your results you can access the HbA1c often within a couple of days. I like having mine before I have my follow up appointment, and the online access has made things a lot easier. It is still good to then see the nurse, and get you ur feet tickled for the neuropathy test.

Let us know how you get on.

Agree, I had the blood test on Tuesday morning and results appeared online on Thursday afternoon. This means I am fully prepared for the talk with the DN

I find the whole cholestrol thing so confusing. In my latest Hba1c LDF HDL and,Trigs fall within the normal range, but the total cholesterol is still high (6),although it has gone down from previous Hba1c. Hey ho...

Sounds good to me, pretty much like my readings. Good luck
