Thanks for this! Really p****d off with Libre this week so will be good to try an alternative at no cost. Not sure what I'll do if I find I like it a lot though!

What has your problem been with Libre @JJay ?
Are you using Libre 1 or 2?
On Libre 2 - this is my fourth and they've been fine up to now, but this one doesn't seem to know if it's coming or going - can be 3-4 out either way. I know I should contact Abbott but I've a lot of other stresses in my life at the moment so haven't really got the time or the inclination.

I use xDrip to get a better handle on the true state of affairs but it's proving difficult to calibrate when my levels are jumping around so much. Ah well, onward and upward (I hope!)

@JJay . The Dexcom is good, very good but it isn’t perfect. I’ve had sensors that will shutdown for upto 3 hrs for no apparent reason, I’ve had sensors not release from the applicator and I suspect that like all cgm’s once your BG goes extremely low or up into the mid teens the accuracy can drift.

Thanks for that. I'm not expecting miracles but it'll be interesting to make the comparison.

I guess comparing the 2 will put you in a prime position to find what suits you best. Also you’ll be able to give opinions for the benefits and pitfalls of both.

Our phones (Sony) aren't compatible.

Our phones (Sony) aren't compatible.
Probably not a problem for all Sony phones.
In many cases, the phones do work but app developers can't test with them all (there are so many models nowadays) so are conservative in what will work and just list the ones they have tested.
A good app developer ... or even an ok developer ... should not be using features specific to a phone and most Android is standard.

My phone isn’t listed either : ( I’m miffed at that as I’d have loved to try Dexcom.

I feel a bit bad for posting now because of those that's phones aren't compatible, sorry! xx

Do chase Abbott for a replacement, whether you decide to give Dex a try or not @JJay

I'm sure they would welcome real-world updates and feedback on their new product.

Dexcom and Libre2 are the best sensors I have used. And there are aspects of the Dexcom that nudge it ahead for me

Sorry @everydayupsanddowns I never thought to check that it was ok to post this! Hope it is ok? xx

I’m sure T1s who have been tempted in the past will be grateful you did!

I wonder whether this might be Dexcom feeling slightly nervy with Libre2 rolling out on prescription?!

Well I've chosen to try it out, rather excited about it, may I ask where have you placed your Dexcom's? I'm rather tempted by trying my abdomen xx

Dex certainly can be used on the abdomen. Lots of other sites too.

I used to place Enlites for my old pump on my abdomen (trying to avoid any area that creases or bends too much... but in the end I recognised that it was a tricky location for me, so shifted to... backs of arms!

I’ve worn all my dexcoms on back of upper arm, and it’s a great location for me.

If you are thinking it might turn into self funding, it would be worth looking up restarting G6s. I get 2x life out of mine, with no apparent drop in performance.

My toughts too. Perhaps they will widen the scope of those it is available to over prescription.

I am also tempted to try but the libre is working quite well for me and I'm not sure I'd like to self fund again. What are the small things that nudge it slightly ahead in your opinion?

Well... there’s a really big one, which is that G6 integrates with my insulin pump which acts as a hybrid closed loop, and really helps fine tune my BG management.

But even without that, like Libre the Dexcom is factory calibrated (and the calibration really suits my body chemistry really well) BUT you also have the option to calibrate if you want to. I don’t do it often, but it has been very helpful to have the opportunity.
