Pre-Covid I had NHS retinal eye appointments every four months. However apart from one telephone appointment in the summer this will be my first retinal appointment in 15 months! Slightly nervous because of the retina and macula problems I’vd had in the past and the significant lasering I’ve had in my left eye.

I hope your appointment goes well! I had my routine retinopathy appointment a few months ago after COVID meant I didn't have my usual annual appointment. It went really smoothly I found as I was the only one in the practice and just had to wear a mask for the appointment and sanitise regularly.

The only issue was glasses steaming up due to the mask!

I hope everything goes well for you.

Hi AJ, I hope you appointment goes well today! Let us know how you get on.

Hello! I too worry about my retinopathy apts and I think even without covid that's completely reasonable and quite normal. I have been in for an appointment during lockdown and it was all very quick and smooth sailing.

Could you perhaps ring the opthamology dept if you have any specific concerns as im sure they would be more than happy to put your mind at ease?

I'm sure you will do grand. Let us know how it goes @AJLang

Best wishes, AJ, hope all goes well! I have my routine one tomorrow (Mr Marten's birthday 😱 ), postponed from last September.

Hope all goes well, Amanda, will be thinking of you.

Had to smile at the weekend - husband has had to attend local hospital for several tests very recently for nowt to do with diabetes - and I've never been there for diabetes, but more than once for several things.

Anyway - they've changed the layout of the place and his phlebotomy appt last Saturday took place in one of the consulting rooms that said 'Diabetes' on the door and still does - cos what was a whole Phlebotomy Dept with its own waiting room, no longer is that.

Was just a thought that Amanda and Pine Marten will have attended there before BUT the clinic just may not be in exactly the same location within the hospital, was all.

Thank you very much everyone.
Yay I’ve now got a another thing affecting the macula in my so called good eye. Like the other three it can cause progressive damage - as well as the diabetes the others are RPE changes, a retinal membrane and the glaucoma - each on its own is bad enough the combine effect is scary, especially with all the surgery I’ve already had.
Vision 6/9 in one eye and down to 6/36 in the other eye.
Glaucoma pressure also up in both eyes at 23 each.

Ah! I have had retinal screenings at the UCH but blood tests at the Whittington, so I do hope neither have messed about with the layout, like supermarkets do!

My appointment tomorrow is at some other local health centre I've not been to before - however, it's just up from one of the Tesco stores we visit now and again, so we know how to get there...

{{{hugs}}} from me too, AJ xx

All I can send you too, AJ - virtual {{{hugs}}}

Oh Amanda as if you haven`t enough problems, we are all feeling for you but a special kiss from Ted. XXX

AJ it's all very scary sometimes innit. Sending thoughts your way and remember you're not alone in this.

Thank you everyone and for the hugs and Ted I will cherish your kiss xx

Oh no!! Sorry to read this @AJLang

Hope they can offer you some effective treatment and strategies to stabilise things and slow any progression.
