Today my bg readings have not been above 8.4. Advice please, is this ok?
 
Look in the mirror and say well done to yourself.
That means you have levels that are now approaching ‘normal’.

What strategies are you using to manage your levels at present
Are there further tweaks you can do?
Have a read around the forum threads. There are plenty of practical suggestions.
Come back with any questions you have.
 
I have been watching what I eat. I found that NHS advice did not work for me, was being advised to eat potatoes, rice, and bread which I found caused me big spikes, so gave that up and cut them out. What a difference. Subsituted with lettuce leaves for a sandwich, it works for me

Excellent @rosalindb sounds like you are making great progress and using the information your BG meter is giving you to tailor your meal plan to be more BG friendly. These are the sorts of details that standard-issue diet sheets can’t give you. 🙂

The suggested ranges for T2s always used to be 4-7 before meals, and no higher than 8.5 by 2hrs after eating, so it looks like you are well on your way to achieving excellent BG management.
 
You are doing really well, so give yourself a oat in the back.

One day I hope the nhs will catch on , that the normal dietary advise they give out , think it’s called the healthy eating plate , does not work for T2s and can do more harm than good. .
Some nhs staff have caught on , so we are getting there.
In the meantime I feel sorry for those with T2 who don’t/can’t come to sites such as this one , where in the nicest possible way we tend to be a bit rebellious lol.
You know Things like self testing and ignoring that carbohydrate heavy plate 🙂
 
Once I got my after meal levels down to 8 I saw them continue to drop without any further adjustment, but you might already be heading down anyway. I used to have the same meal on Mondays every week, carefully weighed, and note my response to it - just to check, but hardly bothered to test for the rest of the time. When I saw well under 7 after Christmas dinner two days running (we have two grown up children) I knew it was beaten.
