Is insulin stacking more to do with making sure corrections are more than 4 hours apart rather than carbs for mealtime doses?

Provided I am able to approximate how much insulin I have on board, I have no fear of insulin stacking.
I have never worried about it when bolusing for food. AS a grazer, it is rare for me to have a break of 4 hours between food unless I asleep. So, provided I am comfortable with carb counting, I am happy to bolus each time I eat.
As for corrections, if I realise my blood sugars are higher than I would expect, I will correct less than 4 hour since my last dose.
This is made easier with my pump as it calculates insulin on board for me but I used to do it when injecting and using arithmetic.

The rule of thumb is normally not to bolus again with in 2 hours.

Hi Helli,

Good point. With grazing, there is much less risk (if any) with overlapping doses, how else can one graze without stacking? It's more of an issue with large doses of insulin and high carbs meals. Stacking insulin can be risky, even with a libre, you can see how there seems to be little progress sometimes on getting blood sugars back in range and then all of a sudden they all hit together, with a quick surge downwards.

Today I had
lunch at 14:42pm
tea at 17:53pm

Before lunch I was 6.9
Before tea I was 5.6
