Hi @Purple_Panda . Sorry, dont know the answer but laughing at your signature. Hope your hair loss is the same 🙂

nothing to do with diabetes but i had severe hair loss and when i was watching 10 years younger it suggested dr organic coffee stimulating shampoo for hair loss. i started using it (and the conditioner) in february 2020 and now my hair is much thicker. i swear by it! i was getting depressed about the loss but now ive almost got my old hair back i feel much better about it. just thought id say!

....... And have you had your Thyroid function tested recently? - as Hypothyroidism is a common cause of hair loss, whereas diabetes never has been.

ive had an underactive thyroid for 25 years and i get it tested once or twice a year. i know that diabetes is not a cause for hair loss, i just thought id share because im so impressed with the results!

As others have said thyroid issues can cause more hair loss and so can anaemia. If it’s still bothering you it may be worth asking for a blood test.

Blimey, if every man “suffering” with hair loss asked for a blood test, doctors would be swamped. By far the commonest cause of hair loss in men is genetic, and familial. Common things are common, don’t forget. And doctors would ask for other symptoms, and look foe other signs of thyroid disease before doing blood tests.

Diabetes doesn’t cause it, or make it worse is the answer to the the original post.

I think Doctor Google does a lot to fuel self diagnosis and imagination of something horrendous but sadly for some people it is sometimes right, but if it leads to early diagnosis that is all to the good.
Doctors do seem to be getting a lot of stick at the moment but I know from the Doctors in my family they are working their socks off to keep up and are working in a very stressful environment. It's a school day everyday for Doctors as they have to be learning all the time.

I had lovely thick hair until I changed my insulin from Humulin I & S to Levemir & Humalog. In the months after, it fell out by the handful. I reckon it's about 1/3 of the thickness it used to be, going on for 5 years later now - stabilised, but thin. Never been tested for thyroid or anaemia, but fairly sure I don't have those problems as no other symptoms. Thick hair runs in my family, so I look like the odd one out now!
