Hi everyone! Has anyone had their vaccine yet ? I had mine 5 days ago and felt terrible for around 24hours. I feel so much better now but my blood sugars have been on the higher side , has anyone else experienced this ? I had covid at Christmas and was told that the side effects from the vaccine can be worse if you’ve previously had covid but gives you greater immunity... is this true ?
 
There are a few threads already about the covid jab.
I have not had mine yet (I'm too young) but keeping an eye on these to be prepared

Who has had their first jab?

Thought it might be interesting to see who has been offered their first Covid vaccine injection, and whether there is much difference over the country. No need to be overly specific if you’d prefer to keep your exact location secret, but an idea of region might be interesting. @Becka and @Docb...

I watched the DUK seminar on this topic last night, and thought I would share some notes (Unfortunately, my internet link went down part way through, so I missed a few items, so it anybody has any other notes that would be great.) Q. Can there be serious allergic reaction after vaccination...

Not yet mate, hoping for jab soon might be next month. Expect bg will go up, does with flu jab so will be well prepared.
 
Hoping I get mine soon as work phoned and are keen for me to return to work, currently off on furlough leave which I don’t mind as I feel safe at home
as I’m 56 thinking it could still be while before I get jabbed
but being type 2 & having asthma , maybe I might move a tier up on the list ?
 
Had mine on the 6th,
Fine for a few hours then had headache and generally unwell slept most of the day Sunday. Bloods on the lower side of normal to start with then increased for a day now back where they should be. Effects lasted for roughly 50 hours.

I do have Addison's disease so suspect some if not all of the symptoms would have been helped if I had thought to take extra steroids at the time. I have learnt for next time.

Oh thanks for the info! Oh really what is considered too young for this vaccine?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant I was too young to be called for my jab as I am considerably younger than 60. But as I have T1, I will be getting it before my peers.
 
I had mine on 16th Dec, after a few days for about 10 days I had high Blood Glucose, no other symptoms. I had my 2nd this morning so will be interesting to see what happens.
 
I've had the Pfizer and low blood sugars for a few days after. It's interesting to see others reactions. Two colleagues went off sick with side effects and neither of them have underlying conditions.
My mum, who has Alzheimer's and in a care home, had the AZ and reported no side effects.
 
the oxford / astra contains sucrose and sugar i checked the ingredients and apparently quite a few antibiotics can interact one of which i have just finished taking.

Not sure which one I’ll be getting, but literally just had them on the telephone booking me in, I get my vaccine on Monday and second dose on 10th May.

I’m in group 6, and thought they hadn’t reached that group yet, she said on the phone that they are quite far ahead in this area, so goes to show how each area can be different.
 
If you are in the North East they were doing quite well up there. I am in Essex in group 5 just had mine Thursday . It is patchy I had friends on Facebook about 3 weeks ago whose 90 + relatives had not had or heard about the vaccine.
 
Yeah I am NE based. Even close by areas are all different though. I’m 32 and in group 6 and have mine booked in & my Nan is 68 and in group 5 and lives about 6 miles from me and not heard anything yet.
 
Yeah, I can imagine, it was my GP surgery that contacted me, not having at my surgery though, but a near by larger medical centre.

My surgery aren't, I got a text from the surgery that are doing mine's mobile patients. Though far from near.
 
All local GP surgeries are grouped into primary care hubs so what has happened with the jabs for this is, they decide which of the surgeries has enough space and is easy enough to get to, to be the centre for all the surgeries in the hub to actually do the jabs. Ours happens to be at our GP surgery, it was one of the receptionists from our surgery who rang us and offered us a joint appt.
