Hello everyone, I want to pick your collective brain.
I’ve seen some of you talking about Bugen Bread (boy sure if that’s the correct spelling)
Where do you get it from? I’d like to try it so I’m planning to smuggle some past the Holland customs when I go back to Germany tomorrow night.
Thanks in advance

Most large Supermarkets!
Thank you grovesy, I thought it might have been a health food store, that makes it easy to find then

It’s becoming quite difficult to find, The co-op used to do it, but not any more, apparently. It doesn’t feature on Tesco or Waitrose websites any more, but Asda still list it, You may need a large store to be sure of finding it, though, Haven't checked Sainsbury’s recently.
Edit: Sainsbury’s still list it on their website,

My Sainsbury's is a big one but they don't have loads.

I can check both adds and Sainsbury’s near me at lunchtime today, thanks for the pointers folks, I’ll let you know if I find some and where

Sainsburys is the only place we can get it now (bar lockdowns of course), and we usually buy about 3 at a time to freeze. Morrisons used to have it but doesn't any more, and our Waitrose never stocked it. We do buy Hovis Nimble as it's quite low in carbs too, but slices are smaller than Burgen ones.

Used to be available in both ASDA and Sainsburys round here but not seen it for ages.

One of the issues is I think, that Burgen is a trade name belonging to one of the big industrial food suppliers (Associated British Foods) in the UK. I'm guessing that if and where it is stocked will depend on the trading relationship between them and the supermarket chain as much as anything.

Good hunting Paul!

PS, if you are up in't north and near a Booths, then try some of their Low GI bread. That is worth the risk of getting into trouble with customs.

I bought some at a large Sainsbury's a couple of weeks ago - though it was the last loaf. First time I'd tried it (after seeing it on here), and really liked it. Good luck.

Incidentally correct spelling is 'BuRgen' - R in the middle.

This is what you are looking for

It’s the ‘Soya and Linseed’ which is the low carb one. There are other burgen breads which aren’t low carb 🙂

Well I’ll be near Leeds shortly, we’re just going to open a new company there in February so lll get a look for it

I’ve never found it yet despite looking in several supermarkets!
Waitrose sell Livlife, this is the only low carb bread I can get where I live, and have to be there early as it sells out quick!

I tried it once, never again.

Our co op still sells it. NB I've switched to Vogel seeded whole grain. 12g per slice.
