I am more cheered than I was before the BBC news just now because 1) our 7 ft-odd Christmas tree has been delivered; and 2) the theatre where I usher has put up the online rota for reopening in the New Year and I've booked shifts in January - oh yes! Of course, we don't know long all that will last, but I'm not looking ahead to tier 3 or whatever until we have to.

So a couple of bright spots of light amid the encircling gloom 🙂

1. I managed my BG levels really well last night after a tricky meal.... still feeling very smug about my fasting reading today and
2. it is not raining here and the sun actually tried to come out briefly and it was mild enough for my bees to have been flying. Definitely a brighter day.

Small things I know but have had quite a big impact on my sense of wellbeing.

Well, bum. I've just seen an email via the Stage that theatres will close again after tomorrow. One step forward, two steps back. More unemployment for actors and backstage staff, and freelancers.

At least our tree is up and waiting to be decorated tomorrow.

After an initial diagnosis of type 1 early November, and being hospitalised feeling quite ill, two months on, lots of testing, very strict meals, I am on zero insulin and told that after their blood tests finally arrived I am not diabetic after all but to continue testing and the new diet.

How's that for a Christmas present.

Not quite sure how to celebrate Christmas as most of the things I would normally eat or drink I have banned (for now, maybe for ever)

Oh, I can better that too. I feel well. More well than I have ever felt in my entire life!

If it is confirmed that you do not have diabetes, why are certain foods banned? Do you have a different condition which limits your diet?
There's no need to provide details, I just want to ensure you are not unnecessarily missing out on what you enjoy,

Well, I am on meds for having had a 'brain tumour' and the aftermath of that.

As nothing is totally confirmed yet diabetes wise unless the talk with the doctor the other day counts, I am being overly cautious. After all I feel so well. I don't want to lose that. And I have lost some weight which feels good too.

Banned foods? Well, I used to like wine gums, chocolate, fruit patilles, coke, sugar on everything, butter on everything else, you name it. For now (maybe forever) all banned. And I do not miss them one bit.

Well if refined sugar - and there's no un-refined sugar in anything these days available in the UK commonly available - can't speak for the US or anywhere they grow cane, but we only harvest sugar beet in the UK, so that has absolutely always had to be refined try lining in a hollow not far from the BSC refinery in Kidderminster for 30+ years for proof of the winter smog from there - is your major problem and you've packed up eating it all as far as you can - not onerous overall frankly! - then you haven't got a major health problem really.

There is less truthful evidence against butter or any animal fat now - simply better eaten only in moderation is the entire message about it, for me and mine these days - same as it's been since I was born in 1950.

Just need to be more careful when eating out, is all !

Number one wife's presents bought just need wrapped. Two got most food for Christmas, just need to buy lamb next week.

I agree moderation in all things. Probably where I went wrong. Hmmm

Pete hadn't better have bought his number one wife a Christmas present at all, else this number two wife will probably kill him!

I seriously wonder if my number one husband has bought his number two wife a Christmas present since my first MIL died many years since - and I know she used to get his for me, to be fair he worked 6 days a week for years, and it was just a source of amusement, I'd say when your mom asks, I would like ... and gave him a list, The year I got the 'Penelope Keith' Parker Lady ballpoint pen, I said "Oooh, thank you! (cos it was a nice surprise) Can noughts flow from its tip?" and he replied "As many noughts as you like darling! As long as you don't write anything in front of the noughts, it'll be fine by me!" :D

I am very low maintenance and all I wanted for Christmas a couple of years ago was a new yard broom and I had told him that.... waited all day for it to appear and at bedtime I was still thinking maybe he had it hidden under the bed....but no... he hadn't got me anything, but when I made a bit of a fuss I was given his broom the next morning.... so my Christmas present was a second hand broom on Boxing day... and I wonder why our relationship broke down!!

I think the number one was referring to the reasons to be cheerful, not the wives!! 🙂

Two reasons to be cheerful. Firstly, my new iPhone 12 Pro arrives tomorrow, so playtime begins. Secondly, as I struggle to walk at all now, my new indoor wheelchair arrives, which has a raising seat at the touch of a button, so I will still be able to do all the cooking. Top speed with the seat raised is 2mph, so I won’t be careering around. I may demonstrate both at the next Zoom meeting:D

I would have put the broom handle where it hurts, you poor thing.

Would it be very naughty of me to say that he was too tight for it to fit!!
(I have had a glass of port tonight so feeling a bit wicked. 😳 :D)

Been telling Pete what I want for months. TBH he's always been generous and bought me jewellery, cos he likes watches and we've pressed our noses on jewellers windows repeatedly over the years. We happened to go in one we like one day cos he saw a watch reduced that he needed, his old faithful having recently popped its clogs and so ancient it was pronounced terminal. Just so happened I saw an utterly gorgeous pair of peridot earrings whilst the chap was discussing the length of the bracelet with him.....

But, when you haven't been anywhere near una tienda/un magasin - sorry, is there a word in English for one of them? Can't seem to remember it - since March 17th 2020 we just haven't seen what's new or desirable or suitable. I need some ruddy knickers too for heaven's sake - boring as hell - but you have to go in a shop to get the damn things. I may be ancient but I do NOT want someone else getting me what they think, cos they aint me, are they? LOL
