Far too high carb for me.
One bar is about equal to my breakfast, in carb content.

I thought 8g for 1 bar was good , after my low carb dinner always worried Im getting it wrong

All depends how low carb you are going. I eat a 10g carb protein bar for breakfast if I’m out early, and it fills me up til lunchtime. 8 carbs is hardly anything, if it’s a complete meal. Even if you’re aiming at a Keto level of 30g of carb a day, that’s still less than a third of your daily carbs.
If you’re aiming at a ‘moderate low carb' diet, which is defined as around 100-130g carbs a day, and works for a lot of people, then it’s worth it for a snack or pudding too, as it won’t use up too much of your total.
Its whatever works for you.

I agree. 8.4g carbs is not bad for one of these bars and they can be a handy on the go breakfast. I use the Nature Valley protein bars occasionally which are 9.8g carbs if I remember correctly, as a "grab and go" breakfast. If you are looking at this for a snack, the Aldi Gluten Free Nut bars are just 5.9g per bar so a better choice, but it really depends what your body will tolerate in the way of carbs and what your priority and preference is.

Oh great I'll look out for that thanks

More to the point @Karen999

Did you enjoy one? Was it nice?

And did you check your BG afterwards to see how your body responded?

The numbers on the box can only tell you so much. And you could well run the risk of feeling that there's nothing you can eat if you try to avoid everything all the time. If you check things before/after a few times (even things that other folks say would be no good for them) you might get some pleasant surprises 🙂

I would happily eat a bar like that and would expect very little BG upheaval - especially if I was active.

Today on run out got takeaway coffee from Morrisons, going thru self scan seen bar called KIND, dark chocolate nuts & sea salt, bought one & really tasty, wrapper said bar had 9g carbs.

Right....so you eat a “high carb” breakfast then?

Obviously not. 8g isn’t high carb.
To keep my blood glucose normal I set a limit of 10 gm for breakfast - but that might be chicken or tuna or cheese and egg salad, or a low carb stirfry - so I then don't need to eat until 12 hours later.

After all that no I didn't like them they were realy sweet
Hehe! Sorry @Karen999 but that did make me chuckle 😛

Sometimes we can try so hard to get things right looking at the packets, bit then the actual eating can be a real disappointment!

Few thanks , I just gave them To my son thought I'd mest up
Hi Karen fellow mum to a diabetic.type 1 and snacks blow my mind.. may I ask if giving as a snack , say after school or mid afternoon and bg was above 10 would you be giving insuline with this or because it's less than 10 would you be classing as an ok snack thanks x

I think you may be mistaken, to me it seems Karen is Type 2 herself and not a parent to a Type 1 child, as for free snacks I'd say it depended what your child's ratios are, over 10 then I wouldn't eat without a jab, in fact I would jab even if in range due to my ratio xx

I am with @Kaylz on this. I jab for anything I eat. I do remember that when I was first diagnosed that I was told that a snack of less than 10 g came for free, but I saw the impact on my glucose levels, and decided that it wasn’t worth it. Once I had a half unit pen I was able to do an appropriate dose with my ratios. Now on a pump it is even easier.

Me too, I would always bolus for such a snack, even if it’s only one unit. I wouldn’t if I was still capable of any exercise, though. It’s amazing what a lack of mobilty does to your long held assumptions about ratios.
