Had an early call this morning from my DSN. I am due a replacement pump on 1 Feb, but we now have a pump start for the 780on 14 Dec. Nervously excited. We will be trained to run it in manual mode for a month, as we are switching from Accu Chek pumps to Medtronic so a chance to get used to that before going into auto mode with the CGM in January. I have found that the handset is not bluetoothed to the pump so I will need to access my pump for a Bolus, but decided that the advantages of CGM will outweigh this disadvantage.
 
Wow! That’s come around quick @SB2015!

You may find that the BG meter offers some simplistic remote bolus options (like the MM640G has), which are fine for a quick correction or for a meal where you don’t need the bolus wizard.

As I understand it the MM670 also needed you to run in manual for a while so that the pump could ‘learn’ how your doses work.

It is a lot earlier than I expected. I think it is a case of having a big enough group of Accu Chek users who are switching to Medtronic, son that they can target the training. I snuck in on a Zoom training fro those that were switching from a 640/670 to 780 which was useful.

I will be able to do the pre-fixed boluses, as on the 640, in manual mode but not in the auto mode. I have already thought about how to adapt my pump pouch to make it more accessible. I will find a way round this. One thing I am looking forward to is a good nights sleep and not having to do corrections overnight, also it is good to have read the comments from @Jo-Jo-T1 of how it deals with exercise.

They were honest that they are not sure how it will deal with extreme illness. I know I have needed to go up to over 200% on occasion and they suggest try it and see and know that we can revert to manual if necessary. I was offered a cortisone injection for the week if the pump start, but decided that I would prefer to wait and focus on being good about the physio in the meantime.

I am very happy to have a month to get used to the pump in manual mode first. They did not want us to waste a month of sensors whilst we got used to the pump and it is important it is set up properly as a back up.

After all the head scratching, it is great that this is finally happening, and amazing to see the changes in the pumps in just one year.
