reading on here i realised 130 daily was not the norm
At the top of every page, there is a message which includes "everyone manages their health differently.".
130g carbs is a recommendation for people with type 2 but you may find your body needs more or less.
And there are plenty of people on the forum with other types of diabetes which are managed with insulin not carbs so they can eat the same diet as someone without diabetes which, typically, includes more carbs.

Yes...i am type 2 and now its obv to me i cannot take that many carbs....a few nurses have waved the porridge flag as a brilliant choice which i took as gospel, not now though, as for me it is not, they meant well i am sure but were generalising possibly. I am now very low carb compared to 130. Thank you for your reply.

Everybody has to find what suits them with the balance between carbs, medication, other health conditions, mobility and where they need to be with blood glucose level. Understanding what they need to do to achieve that is important.
Sounds like you are getting a grip on that.
I personally aim at around 70 -80g per day and that seems to keep me at just below 42mmol/mol.

I am going to note everything i eat and portions etc and keep testing, i think once i have a good couple of months pass by on new meds and eating plan i can judge carb intake levels better. Thank you for your reply.

Maybe try a free Freestyle Libre (15 day) or Dexcom (10 day) trial so you can see trends and test effects of certain food types without constant finger pricks. Certainly helps me keep things under control and know what to avoid. Can also see your Blood Glucose levels whilst sleeping.
