Being diabetic I try to follow a lowish carb diet. I've now been told I've got a 'fatty liver' - something that people who've had their pancreas removed often suffer from apparently, so it's been suggested I try to follow a lot fat diet. But I have a limited capacity 'cos of having no stomach. I had been getting back to a slightly more normal eating regime, but this has turned it on its head.
How can I follow a low carb and low fat diet while consuming enough calories to contain my weight?
The only solution I can see is reverting to eating more frequently and eating less calorie dense food.
Have I missed something obvious or has someone out there got some bright ideas?

It is possible to eat low fat and low carb... one of the Slimming World plans does just that. There are lots of low fat products out there - yogurts, cheeses, meat, poultry, fish. If you're OK with beans and pulses, your menu choices increase dramatically. Most veg are low carb. If you're not trying to lose weight, you'd just have to eat more of it!

I have a fantastic book of sauces that are almost all low carb variations of popular Indian, Chinese, Mediterranean and British dishes - PM me if you'd like me to look up a particular favourite.

Hi there, I also have fatty liver and have been told this is reversable by reducing the amount of 'saturated fat' in my diet; therefore I have reduced my intake of dairy products including cheese; pastry; cream and red meat. Amanda xx 🙂

Oh I forgot! I'm meant to be following a low residue diet too! In case you don't know, that means as little fibre as poss and plenty of refined food - the total opposite of a healthy diet! it's what the astronauts on the space station have to follow to produce as little cr*p as possible!:D

Hmmm. Have you been referred to a dietician? Methinks you need more than my amateur efforts!

Susan I have absolutely no idea whatever and with all your history I'm utterly gobsmacked the hospital let you go without seeing a proper clinical dietitian.

Should have thought you'd be a really interesting patient to any dietitian worth their salt - you know, a jolly good challenge in an otherwise humdrum existence!

As Trophywrench and LeeLee has sudgested you need to see a dietitian as bad advice can make you worse, but in the words of Little Britian, "DUST" sorry, sometimes i cant help myself.
