HI New T2 to this group, just wanted to ask about Yaltormin, have been T2 for over 15 years taking 2 x 500mg Metformin tablets twice a day and now have found the Dr surgery have changed to Yaltormin and the doseage states 2 x 1000mg tablets twice a day.
Is Yaltormin the same as Metformin, my regular tablets were Sukkarto and are they as good, they seem to show more aude effects

Yaltormin appears to be a prolonged release metformin. Was your old Metformin prolonged release?

Yes, I have read through the leaflets and it appears to another version/ manufacturer, just need to double check with the surgery over the doseage

Well if you were taking 2x500mg twice a day and now taking 1000mg twice a day it's the same amount?

2 x 500mg twice daily = 2000mg per day
2 x 1000mg twice daily = 4000mg oer day
Guideline fir maxumum daily doseage 2500mg

You should check with your surgery but it does look as if Yaltormin although is metformin does not contain as much of the active ingredient as metformin.
Yaltormin SR 500mg Prolonged Release Tablets contain 500mg of the active ingredient metformin hydrochloride, equivalent to 390mg metformin. Yaltormin SR 750mg Prolonged Release Tablets contain 750mg of the active ingredient metformin hydrochloride equivalent to 585mg metformin.
I don't know how that compares to what you currently take.

Just take 2x 1000 once a day or 1x1000 twice a day if you normally take 2000 a day total. Slow release metformin doesn’t need to be taken in two doses you can take it all at once.

Glad you got it sorted @EMO 🙂
