As a recently diagnosed T2, I found the Xpert course incredibly useful. Especially the fully comprehensive manual that was handed out. I also gained a clearer understanding of the biology behind T2 Diabetes. The course was, as far as I was aware, up to date with the most recent thinking on Carbs, fats, dairy input, exercise and all kinds of other diabetes-related topics. I was, however, concerned and disappointed at the lack of numbers attending my course and the number of delegates who dropped out or did not attend the entire six-session course, for whatever reason. Not a great use of precious NHS resources.

Those who work often find it difficult to attend sessions especially if they have to take time off work, without pay.
Glad you found yours useful.

Mel because most people have to wait a while before being able to attend the course so are not newly diagnosed by that time, some of them choose to educate themselves in the meantime - so they may not get as much from the course as you have.

I recall a member - Anitram - who only attended a few sessions and explained why he dropped out on the forum. His area might not have offered Xpert; it might have been the older one, Desmond. In any event the course leaders seemed to ignore any 'lower carb' discussion and discount it - whereas he'd adopted it very soon after his diagnosis and was well aware that it works.

Shedloads of lower carb ideas for food on the forum already over the years, so please feel free to find some of them and see if you fancy trying some of them yourself!
