Single mum Helen - who wowed judges last weekend to win a place in Simon Cowell's Judges Houses - has revealed how she had to rush her son to hospital after his undiagnosed diabetes left him just 30 minutes from death.
"It was awful," said Helen. We didn't know what was going to happen. Joe was so lucky. He did pull through. Other children on the ward didn't."
Helen was even forced to contemplate the worst possible scenario, she explained: "I sat there and thought, 'What if, what if?' It's so upsetting."
But the worst part for Helen was when the nurse revealed just how close Joe came to dying. "She said, 'Half an hour to an hour, and that would have been fatal'. And I just *I just sat in the chair. She was really great."
