Is anyone else still waiting for their wrist band which they won in this competition. I think it seems an awful waste of funds to send out 10,000 of these to winners when they only cost just over ?2 each. Also postage has to be paid on each one. It will make me think twice next time I am asked for a donation.
What does anyone else think?

What competition is this Thelma? Was it a Diabetes UK one?

Yes I completed a survey see below a quote from the email I received:

Thank you for completing the Diabetes
Survey 2013 and giving us a piece of your mind.

We received an overwhelming response to the
Diabetes Survey; with more than 20,000 people taking part.

You'll be delighted to know that you have won a
limited edition diabetes wristband!

To claim your FREE wristband, please tell us
your address and the wristband you would
like to receive, along with the colour and size of wristband you'd prefer.

Please confirm your address by July 15, 2013.

Choose your wristband

We have an array of wristbands for you to choose
from. There are 6 different wristbands in a number of colours - including red, blue and hot
pink.

As we are sending out 10,000 wristbands, please
allow 4 to 8 weeks for delivery. We will start sending the wristbands out on July 15.

End of quote.

I actually received mine this morning.

I suppose the information received from the survey is valuable, and a lot of people may be encouraged to take part with the lure of winning something, when they might not otherwise. It does seem to be rather a lot of wristbands, but I expect they only cost pennies when purchased in bulk. Postage costs will also be minimised as there will be discounts for a big mail out, so perhaps a relatively cheap way of obtaining data overall 🙂

I took part in that survey too but wasn't lucky enough to win one.:D

I have done. Three pounds twenty! Hehe.

No, on another lottery ticket. :D

Are you sure that is a survey from Diabetes UK the charity.
When I put Diabetes survey 2013 in gogle it leads me to this

Diabetes Survey 2013

Help shape diabetes treatment in the UK

The Diabetes Survey 2013 has now closed. Winners of wristbands will be announced by email. Pleas feel free to browse the site or join in at the Forum
http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes-surveys/2013.asp

This is not the DUK charity website which is http://www.diabetes.org.uk/ .

It really annoys me the way this site does nothing to dispel the mistaken belief that they are connected to Diabetes UK. I'm sure that many, many people go to their forum convinced that it is an 'official' Diabetes UK site, whereas as far as I know it is owned by a commercially run enterprise.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against people using other forums - wherever they can find good support is fine by me, and I know many people use more than one forum anyway. I just find it a bit disingenuous not to make it clear they have no connection with the charity. :(

I won one & not got it.

The stated wrist bands would be sent out as of 15 July but changed their mind & only started sending them this week.

If you haven't got it by 16 August, they want you to contact them but its not diabetes uk, it's diabetes.co.uk (as per Facebook)

I got mine today, a nice red one with 'Insulin Dependent Diabetic' on it, but as the printing is the same colour as the band, you can hardly see it.

I stopped posting on that forum as people started attacking me and being very rude. Unlike this forum.

Actually, thinking about it they now have details, including names and addresses, of 10,000 people with diabetes on their database, a handy commodity in this day and age...🙄

Mine has arrived but you can't read the writing, wouldn't pay the asking price tho

got mine, been wearing it, best thing ever. 'I'm not drunk, I'm diabetic' ohh it made me chuckle, my new friend it is.

The very reason I don't enter competitions, the details get sold on and sold again and before long your bombarded with junk mail 😡

I got that one in bright pink :D

Still waiting ! I thought it was a Duk site. Not happy with them having my info 😡
