I have started making my own bread (in a bread maker) for the family and they love the Wrights Mixed Grain bread mix. I love it too as it takes a second to prepare.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this bread would be considered low gi or not. I have been avoiding it in case its not - but just wondered if a slice would be okay.

I suppose the next step is to try it and test.

Also, silly question I know, but I am on Victoza, which is doing a great job of keeping my bs nice and low (it helps the food release more slowly) so would the true effect of the bread be masked by this injection - or doesn't it really matter.

What I mean is if without the Victoza my bs went high with the bread, but doesn't because of the Victoza - is that still okay?

Hi Lucy, I used to buy it years ago, pre-D. It is lovely. I don't have it any more, but that's mostly because I now live alone and don't have a breadmaker. Life would be terribly dull without the occasional treat.

As for GI, I suspect the mix is probably brown flour (rather than wholemeal) and thus more similar to white with some grains in it. I'm sure there's someone more knowledgeable out there who can confirm/refute this. Enjoy (in moderation)!

Thank you - and yeah!!!
I have a very thin slice of bread with my soup - and instead of buying a separate loaf of Burgen, I will try a slice of this now.🙂

I don't see what it matters, with Victoza or not?

I mean my BG would be ... well I'd die wouldn't I, without insulin, but I take insulin so I can eat whatever. It's of no partic interest in terms of what I eat, that I'd die without the insulin even without eating, IYSWIM !
